Fast Aerodynamic Calculations Based on a Generalized Unsteady Coupling Algorithm

An aerodynamic model for applications to external flows is formulated that provides a great tradeoff between computational cost and prediction accuracy. The novelty of the work ability deal with any unsteady flow problem, irrespective frequency motion kinematics. model, baptized FALCon, combines an in-house vortex lattice method infinite-swept wing Navier–Stokes solver. two specialized methods are orchestrated by coupling algorithm represents our main research contribution. paper gives formulation algorithmic implementation. FALCon demonstrated on three test cases increasing complexity in physics, up conditions well outside its validity range. On average, achieves speed-up factor about 50, compared full run, while capturing relevant physics: three-dimensional, viscous, compressible, phenomena.
